13 CFR 121.103 states that individuals who are close relatives (e.g., spouses, parents, children, siblings) are presumed to have an identity of interest and are affiliated, unless they can demonstrate a clear line of separation. This presumption can be overcome by showing no financial ties or common business interests.
Two businesses are owned by adult siblings who live in different states and have no shared finances or business dealings. Despite their familial relation, the lender determines they are not affiliated due to a clear line of separation.
