Glossary · Your money in the deal
In short
An investment account held with a financial institution that allows you to buy and sell securities like stocks and bonds. Funds in your brokerage account can be used for your equity injection, provided they are seasoned.
When demonstrating proof of funds for your equity injection, your brokerage account statements will be required. Lenders want to see that the funds are "seasoned," meaning they've been in your account for at least 90 days, to ensure they're truly yours and not newly borrowed. Liquidate assets well in advance of closing to avoid delays.
