Glossary · Reading the business
In short
This refers to how easily and quickly a business or its assets could be sold in the market. It impacts the perceived value and liquidity of the business.
For an SBA loan, marketability is key for assessing collateral. If the business defaults, the lender needs to be able to sell the collateral to recover their funds. Businesses with unique or niche assets may present marketability challenges for the lender.
