Glossary · The loan itself
In short
The SBA's rulebook for lenders. The current version (50 10 8) took effect June 1, 2025. When rules change, this is the document that changed.
SOP 50 10 is the Standard Operating Procedure that translates federal regulations into daily lender instructions — equity injection percentages, standby conditions, franchise directory checks, guarantor rules, and change-of-ownership structures all live here. Lenders underwrite against it. When someone tells you 'the SBA requires X,' the SOP is usually the source. The current version is 50 10 8 (effective June 2025), so check that any guidance you're reading is current.
