Glossary · The loan itself
In short
This is the power granted by the SBA to lenders to approve and process SBA loan guarantees. It dictates how quickly and independently a lender can act.
Lenders with "Preferred Lender" status (PLP lenders) have delegated guaranty authority, meaning they can approve loans without direct SBA review, speeding up the process. Non-delegated lenders must submit all loans to the SBA for approval. Your lender's authority affects your timeline.
